I had been working as a taxi driver in Canterbury but I had got bored

I had been working as a taxi driver in Canterbury but I had got bored with that. Then I had moved to Brighton and worked as a bus driver. The hours didn't suit me so well, the early starts and late nights got to me a bit. Then my friend Bill suggested I thought about doing one of the driving instructor courses advertised. He showed me an advert in a magazine for driving instructor courses. I rang up about these driving instructor courses and they seemed impressed about my career in driving. They asked me to attend an interview for a place on one of their courses for trainee driving instructors.
I was delighted when they offered me a place on one of their driving instructor courses. My first day I had lectures with them talking about the company name, learner drivers and how they wanted to keep lesson prices as cheap as possible. My training for the next six months was just like going back to school. The exams I was given in order to pass my course were very tough indeed. My standard of driving is excellent so that was how I managed to pass it all. I got issued with a blue car and I had to drive to learners homes then they would get in the car and drive. I taught the learners how to drive safely and sensibly. I often had to travel ten miles to learners homes.
Some of my students were youngsters straight out of school aged seventeen to nineteen. Most of them learner to drive fairly quickly. One of the lads only took 8 weeks to learn to drive. He seemed like a natural at the wheel on his very first lesson. I had a lot more difficulty teaching a 40 year old lady that had been used to driving an automatic car. She had to have three driving tests before she passed. The worst student I had was a lady of 55 years old. Amazingly she often drove too fast and I had to keep reminding her of the speed limit.
I had stayed working as a driving instructor for 10 years but I had got bored with it. I began working as a coach driver for a holiday company. That had been my best job and did that right up until the time that I had retired. I travelled all around Europe with elderly tourists from Britain.
