How many times being a kid have you heard when you start driving lessons you will have to drive defensive on your own part? I remember that part so well, when I was having driving lessons.

My first instruction to follow was to read the chapter on how to take care of your motor. We had to know how to check the oil, check the radiator, always check your tires before getting into your car, and when getting out, always check to see where your keys are to the car.

Now being I am older and have kids that are old enough to start driving lessons, I find myself telling them the same thing. My kids would always ask me did you have square wheels when taking your driving lessons, or did you have gas when you had cars. They must have thought we were really old back in those days.

I had to sign up my kids for their first driving lessons and I hope they remember things after they turn 17. I was glancing over the text book and see there is a quiz after each chapter and some words are highlighted in yellow. That is a good sign to see. At least I know this book was put to good use for the driving lessons.

Back when I was going to school and taking this course, we were not allowed to mark in any book, and the only thing we could do was take notes during class. Then we got home, we had to study from our notes. Our teacher would tell us what to study for being we had a test every week.

Well I see the kids are walking up the driveway so I am going to meet them at the door and see what all they learned. Neither one of them could stop talking about the course and both so excited taking it. They were reading about changing a flat tire, checking the oil, checking the windshield wipers, where are the gears on the car, and how to adjust your outside and rear view mirrors.

I could tell they were so excited and was going to get a lot out of this course. If they would just have driving lessons sooner before they turned 17, would be a great help to me. It was getting difficult to drive one place to pick up one person from football practice, and another one from band practice, and then of course you have play practice. I can tell my time is coming to an end. I hope it is at least!
