Two weeks ago while reading the town newspaper I stumbled upon an add begging for driving instructors. I was simply just looking to find a few parts for the classic car I had just purchased but when I found some, I realized I had no money to pay for them. A job was what I really needed to be looking for. Otherwise I would be stuck with a broken down classic car and a scooter with a motor as my only method of transportation. The job had said that it payed fifteen dollars an hour and supplied all instructors with a car to use for lessons.

The applicants requirements:

-Mandatory driving instructor courses

-A valid drivers license

-No criminal record

-Must submit to random drug tests

-Good driving record (i.e not one crash on record or traffic ticket)

-Recommendations from previous employer

-No history of DWI

After I had called the number on the add to find out where they offered the driving instructor courses I was told that the classes were available every Tuesday and Thursday at the community center. On my first day the first thing that all the applicants did was watch a video on what happens when people get into a car crash, it was one of those old black and white movies that were meant to scare the heck out of you. We also went over the different types of cars because the lessons you were to give when you became an instructor would depend on you clients car. For example classic cars like the on I would drive after I got rid of my scooter were not as up to date in the engine area, there were automatic cars, stick shifts, and manual cars, theywould require different lessons. We were taught how to keep from avoiding a crash while teaching the client and what the proper words and methods would be.

In a matter of weeks I was already a certified driving instructor and after about twelve lessons, I had said goodbye to the scooter and hello to my new and improved classic car.
