Ben was sick and tired of having to do all the dirty work at the skip bin hire firm he worked for. He had been saving up his wages for a while so that he could afford driving lessons and to buy a new car when he had finished, there had to be some good come out of all the hard work he had put in. He was still living at home with his parents so he only had to put a small amount of his wages towards housekeeping, and as he worked pretty much all the time his social life had taken a nose dive.

He had had a few lessons with family members but he was going to need to go with a qualified instructor so that he could get through his theory test and ensure he did not pick up his families bad habits, for example his dad when driving on the motorway put his car on cruise control and did not even hold onto the steering wheel and his mom was not exactly what you would call a safe driver applying lippy at the traffic lights. Ben felt the only way to keep himself safe when travelling was to get a new car of his own, after all he had saved up more than enough.

Ben started his driving lessons and passed both his theory and practical test within 6 months and couldn't wait to get behind the wheel of his shiny new car. OK during the day he got mucky in his job but once he was done he could be king of the road and know that he did not have to worry about being safe as he was in control of his own fate. Well almost. Everything was going well for him, and rather than having to be the one who had to get his hands dirty he could as soon as he took an extra test with the firm drive the vehicles that delivered and picked up the skips. As his old nan had always told him (and continued to do so at the end of every visit) you are in control of your future, your a bright lad and you can achieve anything you put your mind to.
