Bored, bored, bored. I chewed on my pen absent-mindedly as I put my head on my hand, looking dead straight ahead. My father acrossthe long conference table gave me a disproving look, but all the same, he smiled.
My name is Antoinette Endsleigh, Ann for short. I'm only 15 years old but my father is now showing me what kind of company I'm going to take over when he retires. He is the President and CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of the company, Endsleigh Insurance Group. Today, the Board of Governors are discussing about people who do not pass their 'auto' group of questions.
I was bored to death that I called my father's secretary to hire a skip, an order from the man himself. I don't even know why he chose me as his successor for this insurance group; sure, I'm his only child, but there's that constantly babbling 18-year-old. I still say he's too young to be the COO (Chief Operation Officer) of this big company.
Come to thinkabout it, I don't want a non-family member to inherit this company. Thiscompany has been handed down for generations; parent to child. Yes, this insurance group is becoming more and more important to me every minute. There should be some test for him to pass to become a COO. If dad shows favour in him to behis successor, I'll do everything in my power to make sure he doesn't pass.
I sat up straight and thought about it. Hmm...well, he was the one who brought up the subject of people not passing their 'Auto' group of questions, so, why not ask him?
"Daddy?" I interrupted.
"Yes, Sweet Tooth? Is there something that brought to your attention, or would like to ask?" he asked, the light in his eyes shimmering. At least he's excited that I'm participating.
"I just want to ask Mr. Marshall Carlisle something."
"Go on then, Sweetie."
"Mr. Carlisle, I have been on my butt, sat here for the last 30 minutes, listening to you drag on about why is it so hard, for people to answer the 'Auto' group of questions. Have you tried them yourself? Perhaps if you answer them yourself, you can see what's so difficult and improve them yourself." I challenged. He glared at me before pushing back his glasses and gave me a cold smile.
"A very good inquiry, madame. This company will be in good hands without a doubt." he said.
I reflected his smile and added, "Oh, I'll make sure that it will be successful in my hands. I'll make sure no on gets in my way." With that, everyone in the boardroom clapped. He's going to make a great entertainment alright...
