Paul was a driving instructor and was now finding it difficult with the rising cost of fuel, he could not increase the cost of driving lessons every time the cost of petrol fluctuated. That would simply be absurd and his clients would not know where they stand. He wanted to retire at some point in the future and so had decided not to take on anyone new and just wait till those who he was currently instructing had passed their tests.

However, his wife had now decided that she could not wait any longer to do up the house so they could finally sell it when Paul had retired from becoming an instructor. He had arranged to a cheap skip hire company to deliver a skip that day whilst he was giving someone a driving practice test and so his wife had arrived the day off work to receive it. He knew that this girl deserved to pass. It was her third time taking her test and she was perfect in his eyes, yet every time she sat her test she freaked out and failed. The nerves got to her too much.

At the end of the driving practice test, he thought it had gone perfect. She had looked ahead, spotting possible doughnuts as he called them. The Muppet's who shouldn't be allowed on the road. It seemed as though she was gliding rather than driving. No mistakes at all. No minors, let alone any majors but he was still worried about what the next day would bring when she sat her test.

He waited in the test centre for her and when she ran in saying that she had finally passed, he said "NowI won't have to give you another driving practice test again. You've done very well and good luck. I hope your driving stays at the same level. Remember it pays to be a good driver." She laughed, he said that every time she got in the car with him. Her reply was "Just to let you know you've been a brilliant driving instructor. So patient. So thank you."
