Reading the local paper the other day I made a decision that would change my life for the better. Among the adverts for car cleaning and ads showing skip hire costs there was an advert for a driving school. I had always wanted to take my driving test and had dreamed about cruising around in my new car. Unfortunately at present the car and the driving test were just a pipe dream, or at the very least a long way in the future.

"you never get anywhere if you don't try". Something my dad had always said to me and something I often repeated to my own kids. I decided to give it a go after all what harm could it do? at the very worst I could end up with some psychotic or eternally boring instructorscreaming obscenetiesor going on eternally about emergency stops and insurance groups. I picked the driving school that looked like it had the cheapest ad. This meant i was either getting a cheap driving school or possibly just a bad one. Potentially both but money as was tight! with some trepidation I called the driving school and booked my first lessons.

"If at first you don't succeed try and try again" . Another much used phrase and in this case advice to be followed. My first driving lesson was a disaster. The instructor turned out to be neither psychotic or boring there was no screaming or talk of insurance groups. The instructor was in fact somewhat short and called, Dave. Dave was a devout christian but not in the weired way that prevails some Christians, he had a strong faith but kept it to himself by and large. Dave had a bit of a holy air around him, he was peaceful and never raised his voice despite the countless attempts to get into gear accompanied by crunching cogs and some choice words on my part.

I was convinced I was never going to pass my driving test but after a lot of practice and perseverance I passed and bought my first car, a two tone BMW five two five. Only when I got my first quote did i wish I had taken advice from someone about insurance groups.
