I worked for a skip hire company called Skippy the skip for hire, don't ask all i knew is that day after day i had prank phone calls with people pretending to be Australian it seemed that found it funny for one reason or another.
The company had a policy that under no circumstances did we emply young drivers to deliver our skips the reason for this is not only did the young drivers not have enough experience but we found young drivers to be some of the worst people on the road, whether they were driving a car or van or riding a bike they were some of the most selfish people on the road and many accidents had been caused by them.
I lost count of the numerous times we had had claims from solicitors saying that their client had inadvertently drove into a skip, understandably some on a bike yes we do acknowledge that if our skip is on the pavement and they come riding along on their bike they might ride straight into a skip but clearly they were looking the other way at the time or texting off their mobile phones.
Our poor van drivers get so much stick from them aswell, it takes a few minutes to put a skip in the right place where the customer wants it although with some of these young drivers they seem to lose track of time all together and they think several hours have passed since they had to stop they are unreal sometimes.
One young lad even got out of his car and went and tapped on the van window ready to have a fight with the driver unfortunately for the young lad being inside the high van cab the drivers full size is pretty much hidden, so when Scott got out of the van he was all of his 6ft 7 height and broad as they come, the young guy looked rather sheepish and just asked him nicely if he could hurry along as he was on his way to his girlfriends, scott got back in the van and took an extra 10 minutes than normal to put the skip down and i dont blame him one bit i would of done the same.
